Student Council
The 4th and 5th graders elect classroom representatives to the Student Council, which meets weekly. Each year the representatives speak with their classmates and come up with a different project to make the school even better. The student council has researched and gave a presentation about our school’s namesake Alfred E Smith (a Governor of New York!), read to kindergarteners on Halloween, held a food drive, elebrated Civics Week and organized a Participatory Budget project, where every student in the school gets to vote on how to spend a city grant to improve our school.
District 3 Civics Share Fair
Two student council members participated in a panel discussion during the District 3 Civics Share Fair.
